Who was Junior Miller
One man. One neighborhood. A lifetime of showing up.
Junior Miller grew up in the same streets he would spend his life serving. He wasn't a politician or a philanthropist — he was a neighbor. He fixed cars for families who couldn't afford a mechanic, organized block cleanups before anyone called them that, and made sure no child on his block went to school hungry.
Over four decades, Junior became the quiet backbone of his community. He mentored hundreds of young people, advocated for seniors who had no one else to speak for them, and built a network of mutual aid that outlasted every hardship the neighborhood faced.
When Junior passed in 2009, the outpouring of grief — and gratitude — made one thing clear: what he had built was too important to let fade. His family, friends, and the people whose lives he had touched came together to formalize what Junior had always done informally. The Junior Miller Foundation was born.

Foundation established
Family, friends, and community members formalize Junior Miller's legacy by incorporating the foundation.
First food distribution

Denise Carter
Executive Director
Denise has led the foundation since 2014, bringing 20 years of nonprofit management experience and an unshakeable belief that community is built one relationship at a time.
Marcus Webb
Director of Community Outreach
Marcus grew up two blocks from where Junior Miller lived. He joined the foundation as a volunteer in 2010 and never left.

Priya oversees all three of the foundation's core programs, ensuring every initiative is grounded in data, community feedback, and Junior's original spirit.
